When the whole class thought Ronan had come because of Eloise's decision to study abroad, Ronan called out another name. “Mae.”
At the sound of her name, Mae tensed up all over.
“Come forward...”
With a heart filled with fear, Mae got to her feet, still clueless about the reason for Ronan's unexpected visit. Then, she saw a bodyguard by the door hand Ronan a freshly printed notice.
Ronan didn’t even bother to glance at it before he tossed the notice onto the table before Mae, stating with an unchanging expression, “You got expelled.”
The notice landed at Mae’s feet.
“It can’t be!” Mae blurted out in disbelief.
She hurriedly picked up the notice, tearing open the envelope, only to find the expulsion notice inside. As she read it, Mae froze. ‘Expelled? Why?’
Her eyes immediately sought out Eloise. Eloise’s expression was equally grim.
Everyone knew Mae was Eloise’s close friend. Ronan delivering the expulsion notice in front of the class was like a slap in Mae’s face.
“Professor Beckett, there must be some mistake. It must be a misunderstanding!” Mae stammered, trying to defend herself, her words tumbling in panic.
