Luna shot Freya a look that screamed, "Help me".
Freya subtly gestured for Luna to make a run for it.
When Luna fabricated that story about Kieran, Kieran had pinned it on the Jennings family. And Luna’s parents had warned her, time and again, not to cross Kieran. So, at that moment, the best plan for Luna was to bolt.
"I've got some stuff to take care of back home, Mr. Sutton... You two carry on." With that, Luna was out the door like a bat out of hell.
After Luna left, the room, already quiet, fell into complete silence. Indifferent as usual, Freya eyed Kieran and asked, "Mr. Sutton, did you need something?"
Kieran stepped closer, saying, "I didn't know you cared so much about me."
Freya was stunned. When did she show any concern for Kieran? Had any part of her conversation with Luna been about him? Wasn't it all about her concerns?
"What... what are you here for?" Freya's wariness toward Kieran grew by the second.
Kieran and Eloise were like ticking time bombs to her, unpredictable and dangerous. Freya wished she could spend her whole life without ties to Kieran. But fate had cruelly thrown her back into a moment she was infatuated with him.
Left with no choice, she thought of every possible way to distance herself from Kieran.
