"Eloise, you're the student council president. Today, Freya stirred up trouble, and I've had the library pull the surveillance footage. It was Freya who initiated the altercation. I've instructed Director Sampson to expel Freya. You can rest easy."
"Understood. Thank you for your fairness, Principal."
As Eloise listened to these recordings, her face turned ghostly pale.
Kieran said, "Ellie, I gave you a chance, and you squandered it."
No sooner had he finished speaking than Eloise saw Kieran reaching for the phone on the desk.
Realizing he might call the principal, Eloise quickly grabbed Kieran's arm, pleading, "Kieran! You can't do this to me! You promised you wouldn't let anyone bully me!"
"I promised to protect you from harm in Echo City, not to condone your mistreatment of others." Kieran's gaze was icy as he looked at Eloise. "Ellie, you must face the consequences if you've done something wrong."
"I can't study abroad anymore! How can I hold my head up in our circles if I get expelled? Kieran, for my sake! Just pretend you don't know. Okay?"
Eloise's plea was desperate. Pride was her Achilles' heel. The thought of her reputation tarnished by such underhanded tactics used against Freya was unbearable.
"Let go." Kieran's voice was almost frigid, a clear warning to Eloise.
Seeing the unfamiliar coldness in his eyes, Eloise involuntarily released her grip. "Kieran, doing this is like pushing me to my death."
