When word got out that an inspection was on the horizon, a wave of unease swept through the students of Summit University. An exam inspection? That was news to everyone. Those in the back rows, who had been casually prepping their cheat sheets, quickly stashed them away. Getting caught cheating here wasn't just a slap on the wrist; it was grounds for immediate expulsion.
"Did anyone else miss the memo about the bigwigs dropping by? Who's even coming?" one student whispered.
"Beats me. The campus has been a hot mess lately," another replied.
The back row was buzzing with hushed gossip until a sharp look from the proctor silenced them. Freya, however, remained unfazed, diligently working through her exam.
Suddenly, the room was filled with gasps, drawing Freya's attention away from her paper to the doorway, where Kieran stood. His eyes swept across the room, clearly looking for someone.
"The integrity of our exams is paramount here at Summit University. There's no room for shortcuts," the principal declared, standing by Kieran’s side.
Kieran's gaze eventually settled on Freya, who today had chosen simple casual wear, her glasses framing her face and her hair loosely tied up, making her blend into the crowd. Initially, Kieran hadn't even noticed her.
Her right hand was bandaged, making it tough for her to write with her left. Every so often, she'd shake out her stiff hand.
"Is that Mr. Sutton? What's he doing here?" someone whispered nearby.
"Mr. Sutton in our exam hall? Must be here for Eloise," another speculated.
"But isn't Eloise at the back? It almost seems like Mr. Sutton's attention is...”
