Freya stepped forward and snatched the apple right out of Neil's hand.
Totally taken aback, Neil just gawked at her.
"Ease up on the fruits, we've got a feast coming up tonight!" Freya announced.
"A feast?" Neil was puzzled.
With Preston and Hans, the two reigning frugality kings, around, where on earth would a feast come from?
He had been staying with the Tyler family for days and hadn't seen a proper meal yet!
Neil almost blurted out his thoughts but decided to ask Hans instead, "What feast? Where's this feast coming from?"
"Ms. Dawson mentioned she's preparing a big dinner to thank Dr. Anderson."
"Thank me? For what?"
"For your ointment."
Hearing what Hans had to say, Neil was even more confused. "But shouldn't you be thanking Preston, not me? He's the one who shelled out the cash!"
Sure, developing those ointments wasn't cheap, and it was Preston who footed the bill. Despite Preston being notoriously tight-fisted with his own expenses, skimping wherever he could, he never hesitated to splurge on matters important to him.
Like the time he funded Freya's ointment development without blinking an eye - a cool million just like that. The research lab was over the moon!
"Let's not worry about the boss's affairs, Dr. Anderson. Just know this dinner is to thank you."
"Being a good Samaritan without seeking recognition? What are you, the modern day Mother Teresa?"
Neil almost burst into applause for Preston.
Later, spotting Freya fiddling with her phone in the kitchen, Neil approached her. "Ms. Dawson, what are you up to?"
"Ordering groceries."
