Chapter 435
His domineering yet amorous kiss reminded Rosalie of the kiss that night when she was still bleary.
Both incidents felt so much alike.
“Hence, at the time… did he truly kiss me while I was asleep?” she wondered.
His kiss almost made her breathless.
She was panting instinctively when the kiss ended, yet he rested his forehead against hers and muttered hoarsely, “Can you not like Lucas, please?”
A tremor ran through Rosalie’s body. “Jonathan, don’t you think what you’re saying is ridiculous?”
He demanded that she not fall for another man despite having broken up with her.
Jonathan’s face suddenly darkened.
“Does she know how I felt when I sat in the rental home watching the videos of her and Lucas together at the amusement park?” he questioned internally.
Jealousy devoured him whole back then.
It felt like death by a thousand cuts from an invisible knife when Jonathan observed how she looked and smiled at the man, especially when she took the initiative to redo his necktie.
The pain was so terrible that he found it difficult to breathe.
“So, do you insist on liking him?” His tone was sharp and severe.
Rosalie’s body shook abruptly. She had an inexplicable intuition that Jonathan would rob her of her freedom if she said yes.
It would be a piece of cake to deal with her with his authority and position in Strico,
Moreover, there was Lucas.
She wished not to implicate that honest and genuine man because of herself.
“No, I don’t like him,” she uttered drily.
He trained his gaze on her eyes as if evaluating the veracity of her words.
After a moment, his lips gradually curved into a light smile. “Good thing that you dislike him.”
“Well, can you let me go then, Mr. Youngblood?” she asked.
His brows furrowed at that as he had no desire to release her from his embrace nor take his arms off from around her.
“Call me Jon,” he requested out of the blue. It was too jarring to hear Rosalie refer to him as Mr. Youngblood or Jonathan. She pursed her lips and glared at him.
“Didn’t you use to call me Jon before?”
“That was in the past. I shouldn’t do that now that we’ve broken up,” she responded.
“But didn’t you call me Jon before we dated, Rosie?” His breath landed on her face lightly.
She held her breath when her nickname left Jonathan’s lips.
Her nickname formerly made her feel less lonely like she finally had a family.
“But you aren’t my younger brother anymore, right? That’s why there’s no need to call me Rosie, Mr. Youngblood,” she smiled bitterly
“You were the one who was hellbent that I refer to you as Rosie back then. Are you refusing to be held accountable for that?”. His fingers lightly stroked her cheek and gently tucked the stray strands of hair that had gotten loose when she struggled behind her ear. “You can’t just refuse to be my sister at your whim and fancy.”
“What does he mean by that?” Rosalie exclaimed internally.
Rosalie stared at Jonathan in a daze and could only focus on his perfect lips that shaped the words, “Haven’t you always wished to be part of a family? In that case, why not continue being my sister?”
Rosalie was stunned. After a while, she suddenly had an urge to crack up. “You want us to continue behaving like we are siblings?”
“Is there a problem with that?”
“Jonathan, do you have any idea how ludicrous you are?” she laughed out loud. “I went along with you when you suggested we date and even when you demanded that we break up. Now that you’re sick of our dating game, are you seeking a new
thrill with this make-believe family?”
Jonathan’s face turned stormy instantly. “This isn’t a game. You can be my sister. No one would dare disrespect you in Strico ever again.”
“No, thanks!” she turned him down swiftly. “You are not my brother either.”
How could she treat a man she once loved deeply back to being her brother?
“Are you so against being my sister?” He narrowed his attractive eyes, giving off an infinitely dangerous aura.
“Jonathan, I’m not you, nor can I be as fickle as you!” Rosalie spat out coldly. “We’ve broken up, so please stop disturbing me in the future. Since you claimed being with me is too draining, I won’t appear in front of you again. I expect you to do the same!”
Her indifference and aloofness irritated him. It was as if she rejected any advances he made toward her no matter what he did.
“How could she lock me out of her heart so simply when I’m undergoing such suffering?” he deliberated.
His jealousy surged once more when he recalled the image of how happy she was when heading to the amusement park with another man.
At that, Jonathan lowered his head and kissed her lips hard again.
“No, I don’t want this!”
