Roman paused outside the house for a moment after he closed the door.
Why did he feel like this was the last time he would see Evelyn?
He’d thought they had come to an understanding after last night. Evelyn had been...
He closed his eyes and fought the hardening of his body. Even after showering, he could still feel her, and he could still hear her cries. She was exquisite. Her smell, the taste of her, everything.
They wouldn't reach those heights if Evelyn didn’t completely trust him to take care of her during and after. He supposed the romantics would claim she was made for him. Made to please him. Made for him to do every single deviant thing he wanted to her body.
That’s why her declaration that she was still leaving had felt like she’d brought a hammer down on his head.
It was just sex, so it shouldn’t matter to him, but the thought of her leaving... The thought of her doing all these things with someone else made him want to kill someone.
This brought back the realisation he had been trying to ignore since she’d left that stupid note. Evelyn Bright had got under his skin. She’d wormed her way in somehow over the past year without him noticing and that just wouldn’t do. He needed to create distance somehow.
If she stayed.
He looked back at the house briefly before he started down the steps to the waiting car. Normally he drove himself back, but since Phillip had driven them here the day before, he didn’t have his car with him. The sun was just rising, so it was a lot later than when he normally left, but it was still too early for anyone to look as chirpy as Phillip did as he rested on the car door.
“Morning, sir,” Phillip said with a smile.
He grunted a reply and got into the car without waiting for Philip to open the door. His driver thought it was amusing that they had spent the day following Evelyn before he had finally had enough and told her to come to the car. That, and the fact that he’d taken the day off to do that in the first place was completely out of character. But Philip had never had an Evelyn, so he would never understand. Great sex was hard to come by, and the fact that every time with Evelyn was off the charts was a sign that he needed to keep this one at least a while longer.
He would get bored of her eventually, as he always did. But until then he had to do everything in his power to keep her right where she was.
He ignored the voice that reminded him that Evelyn had already outlasted the longest contract.
“Home?” Philip asked once he was in the car.
“Yes. I need to sleep, I’ll see my father later.”
He sent a quick text message to his father as he said that. He was supposed to visit for breakfast but he was so drained that it would have to be brunch or lunch. That would bring its own set of problems but he would deal with that when he was mentally prepared for it.
He pressed the button to speak to Phillip again.
“Did you get Miss Bright’s car?”
“Yes, it’s in your garage. Do you want me to make arrangements to bring it here?”
He almost said yes, but the nagging in the back of his mind wouldn’t stop. The moment he brought that car, Evelyn would be gone again. Maybe that made him a dick, but that was okay. He’d do whatever he needed to do until he was sure she would follow the rules.
“No. I’ll tell you when.”
