"So I can't, but Kenneth can?" Everett furrowed his brow, his eyes not missing a beat of her emotional fluctuations.
She mused for a few seconds but didn't answer the question. Instead, she countered, "My mom insisted on me bringing a boyfriend to see her this time, or she wouldn't have surgery. I brought Kenneth, thinking I could fool her, but she suddenly demanded that Kenneth's parents come to the hospital immediately! If I had brought you instead, could your parents have come?"
The answer was a big no of course.
Both of them were well aware.
After all, everybody knew his highfalutin status!
"So, can you understand?" Dorothy asked carefully.
But Everett didn't say another word.
He buttoned up his shirt before she could apply the medicine, and left the room straight away.
Dorothy could only sigh as she watched his retreating figure.
She hoped that Everett could keep his possessiveness over Heather in the future! She also wished he could realize that she was not Heather but just a low-status stand-in.

Everett never came back after he left. Dorothy washed her face and sat back down at her desk to work.
Around six in the evening, Kevin came knocking.
"Give me the parts you've checked and you've got three days for the rest! Since you don't need to leave the hotel, try to do as much as you can. I'll mention your contributions to Mr. Lopez when the time comes."
Dorothy gave him a thumbs up, but there was something she didn't understand.
"Kevin, why did you bring me to Lumina Bay if you guys don't need me to tag along for meetings or due diligence?"
