Dorothy waited until Everett finished his call outside before she stepped out of the car to meet him.
"It provides Havenbrook's special cuisine." His voice was cold and deep, like a cello.
"Oh." Dorothy was a bit surprised. Did this mean Everett remembered that they had been middle school classmates?
Or perhaps he knew from the start.
Dorothy felt out of place when standing next to Everett. He was dressed to the nines; he was clearly a golden boy. And there she was, with 'assistant' written all over her face.
Feeling uncomfortable as soon as they sat down in the restaurant, Dorothy didn't know what to do. She couldn't possibly start reminiscing about middle school, could she?
Everett, on the other hand, seemed more at ease. It was as if he were with a friend who he saw every day. He casually rolled up his shirt sleeves and ordered a few dishes.
"The SinoSuccess Enterprises project, was it you who handled it?"
Caught off guard by the sudden work-related question, Dorothy hastily nodded. "Yes, that's me."
"Have you inspected their financial situation in detail?" Everett leaned back slightly, awaiting her response.
"Yes, I have. Their financial data is accurate. I've checked. There's no fabrication."
He smirked, taking a sip from his water glass. "Dorothy, just because the data isn't fabricated doesn't mean there aren't financial issues."
She was stunned as Everett presented a document to her.
"SinoSuccess Enterprises only has 50 million in liquid assets, but their commitment letter states they have 80 million. Who do you think will make up the difference?"
Dorothy fell silent.
"Don't rush with the projects." Everett's tone was different from when he scolded Mr. Percy. It was almost... paternal.
Dorothy bit her lip, feeling both regret for her carelessness and admiration for Everett's competence. He had spotted the problem so quickly in the project she had just submitted.

The intimate scenes in this story or uncomfortable to read. They either come off as being forced, painful, or simply not enjoyable....
Okay I left a long while ago and came back. Looks like it's been updated but still not done lol. I'll maybe wait 6 months before coming back and it'll probably still be going on. It's like a soap opera instead of a novel...
Kenneth is confirming something I've been thinking about him for several hundred chapters ago and that is he is a future murder suicide perpetrator. And after reading chapter 1275 yeah it's just brought the thought back....
How could Jeffrey throw the knife down at the scene of the crime with both their fingerprints on there?...
Again no update, so is this where it ends? Or post the whole book. Your dragging this out...
