The CEO's Hidden Love: Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires novel Chapter 1430

Every time Dorothy looked in the mirror, it felt like rubbing salt in an open wound.

Her mood directly influenced her son, causing the whole family to bear the brunt of her unhappiness.

Jonathan believed their life was pretty good as it stood. He didn't want his son to feel troubled because of him.

"I've talked it over with Everett. We've decided to let bygones be bygones and not dwell on who was right and who was wrong."

Now, looking at the man before her, Dorothy no longer harbored the resentment and sense of injustice that had built up over four years.

He was simply the father of the man she loved.

Though Jonathan hadn't raised her and she owed him no personal debt of upbringing, his influence on Everett was undeniable. It was his nurturing that had shaped Everett into the admirable man he was today.

The thought of this man, her child's grandfather, living his twilight years in a foreign land weighed heavily on her heart.

"As long as you two are happy, that's all that matters," he said, raising his hand in a gesture of farewell. "You should head back to the party before Everett starts to worry."

Jonathan was ready to leave, to spare himself the pain of parting.

Dorothy gave him a look, her eyebrows knitting together slightly.

Her lips moved several times before he had almost reached the door, and finally, she managed to speak.

"Don't go. Stay here in Eldorria City with your son."

Jonathan paused abruptly at her words.

Dorothy stepped closer, speaking softly, "We can't change the past, but we can turn the page. You love your son; surely you want to be by his side, to enjoy the company of your grandchildren. As for me, you don't need to worry. I won't let past grievances affect my relationship with Everett."
