The CEO's Hidden Love: Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires novel Chapter 1464

He decided to give Aurora a call, which was somewhat unexpected.

Settling down on a bench at the bus stop, Felicity replied on WhatsApp.

"Thanks, Abigail, all good now! You get some rest, goodnight."

Putting away her phone, on a whim, she stretched out on the bench, using the moment as a makeshift sobriety check.

And you know what?

Playing the part of a vagabond felt surprisingly nice!

The air was exceptionally crisp in the wee hours.

After lounging for a bit, Felicity took out her phone again, her gaze inevitably drifting towards her WhatsApp conversation with Miles.

His profile picture was just a blank black image, and his WhatsApp name was simply Miles.

His Twitter was a ghost town, not even worth mentioning.

Aside from the message he sent today, there was nothing else.

That was Miles for you.

He cared, he paid attention, but only with the affection of a brother for his sister, nothing more.

From his looks to his actions, even in the undertones of his conversations, Felicity couldn't sense a shred of romantic love!

She didn't want to marry Miles for one simple reason: he felt obligated, willing to spend the latter half of his life making up for a mistake she made years ago. It wasn't fair to him.

Sighing, Felicity felt the fatigue creeping in, so she hailed a cab.

"Hey, K&J Mansion, please."

The driver, upon hearing this, added, "The standalone villa?"

"Yes, that's the one."

"The place yours, young lady?"

Given it was late and the driver was a man, Felicity offered a small laugh and said, "Oh no, I work there as a cleaner."

"Oh."

The roads were empty, and they reached K&J Mansion in no time.

After paying, Felicity got out and headed straight for the villa's door.

"Alright, see you, Langston."

She waved and turned to leave.

But the sound of the car door shutting didn't follow for a long time.

Having reached the villa's steps, Felicity paused, turning slowly to look back at him by the car.

"Langston."

"Hmm?"

"Thanks for caring about my safety, but I still think we should keep our distance. Like you waiting at K&J Mansion for me tonight, let's not have that happen again."

Miles furrowed his brows in confusion, closing the distance between them with a few long strides.

"You women are a mystery," he muttered.

"I don't get it. You're the one who refused to let me take responsibility."

"You were the one who said not to marry me, to pretend that incident never happened, as if it was all just a bad dream. And now, you're asking me to deliberately keep my distance?" He looked into her eyes, a mix of bewilderment and frustration evident, "I'm just being a brother, worried about you. I'd do the same for Abigail, for any of my sisters!"
