The CEO's Hidden Love: Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires novel Chapter 1468

Watching Calvin sulk was Felicity's new favorite pastime. She couldn't help but beam at him, "Alright, alright, you win. Can we go grab some food now? I'm starving."

"It's not about 'you win'; it's the truth!" Calvin retorted.

Felicity flashed an OK sign at him, "Sure, sure. Maybe you can prove it to me some day."

"..."

She scrolled through a list of restaurant recommendations from Aurora, picking one that caught her eye, "Let's hit the road. I'll show you what Eldorria City has to offer, you country bumpkin!"

Calvin frowned, "I'm older than you!"

"Yeah, yeah, you're the oldest."

"..."

...

Meanwhile, at Bay Residence.

Miles had come home late last night to seek Everett's help with a tricky issue at work. After resolving it, he decided to stay over at his parents'.

In the morning, as he was about to leave, he overheard his mother, Dorothy, chatting with Karen in the living room.

"So, Calvin actually showed up, huh?"

Miles, who was already by the door, paused at the mention of that name.

Dorothy glanced at her son before continuing, "Is Felicity bringing him home? I'd like to meet the young man."

Karen's response was inaudible, her voice lowered so Miles couldn't hear.

Lips pressed into a thin line, Miles looked away and announced, "Mom, I'm heading out."

"Drive safe!"

"It's not you."

"Is it because of that girl you mentioned before, the one you said you had responsibilities towards? Has she come back?"

Before dating, Miles had mentioned this situation to Esther, but he never revealed who the girl was. He only mentioned that if she came back and needed him, he would have to step up.

Esther had said it was fine, that she wanted to be with Miles, even if it was just for a day.

"Not entirely."

"..."

"I just feel we're not right for each other. I've never really felt what you describe as love towards you, so let's not waste each other's time."

Miles realized that their relationship felt more like a friendship. He could go weeks without thinking to contact Esther, which his mother said meant he didn't love her.

"Miles, I don't want to break up!" Esther's voice broke into a cry, "I've chased you for so many years. It took me so long to finally become your girlfriend. Is it because I've been contacting you too much this month? Am I distracting you from work? If you don't reach out next month, I promise I won't bother you first. Please, I don't want to break up..."
