The CEO's Hidden Love: Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires novel Chapter 1484

Miles paused, his face a picture of confusion.

"Me, calling out for Esther?"

"Yeah, I heard it with my own ears. You said her name over and over!"

He glanced down, calculating the time in his head before responding, "The night you spiked my drink, I hadn't even met Esther!"

Sure, he knew of an Esther who had been sending him love letters, who apparently had a crush on him for the longest time but...

Miles was a tech guy through and through, his mind perpetually tangled in the web of computer networks.

He never once entertained the thought of getting to know any girl, let alone calling out Esther's name in a drunken stupor. Even if he was wasted, the idea was ludicrous.

"You're lying. I don't believe you."

Felicity turned away, utterly unconvinced.

It seemed to her that all men were born liars, Miles included!

The car fell silent once more.

Miles wasn't feeling guilty; he was just hard at work trying to recall that fateful night.

He had indeed been drugged, and admittedly, a bit drunk.

The details were fuzzy at best.

But him shouting Esther's name? That was impossible.

After all, who calls out for someone they've never met while drunk? He didn't even know what Esther looked like – whether her nose was big, her eyes were wide, or her lips were full, he couldn't say!

"Are you sure it was Esther's name I called out?"

"Absolutely!"

"Hold on a second," Miles interjected, thoroughly confused, "During basketball games, wasn't it all about quickly wiping off sweat to get ready for the next game?"

He never specifically chose whose towel to use. It was always about convenience – whoever was closest.

"Oh, so it just so happened that it was always Esther's towel?"

"Could it be that she was always the one nearest to me?"

"..." Felicity was momentarily stumped. "But what about moving the chairs? You can't deny that. I saw you take them from her hands. You two were chatting and laughing, looking so happy. Someone even posted it on the school forum!"

Miles couldn't recall that incident at all, not even a faint memory of it.

But what he was certain of was that before anything happened with Felicity, the thought of dating someone hadn't even crossed his mind.

Growing up, watching his dad chase after his mom had convinced him that love was a terrifying thing.

To him, writing a line of code or developing a new app was far more appealing.
