Who would've guessed?
Everett Lopez, CEO of Lopez Corporation, was known to the world as aloof and reserved. Yet, here he was, a grown man, acting like a lovesick teenager.
Clinging to his wife, refusing to let go.
“Once we wrap up this big project with Trust-E Investments, let's head to Snowfall City. We'll stay there until the last flake has fallen. How does that sound?”
Everett immediately nodded, content and ready to change his attire.
Just as Dorothy was about to leave, he suddenly asked, “The kids aren’t coming with us, are they?”
“…” She couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time. “Don’t worry! Even if you wanted them to, they wouldn’t stick around.”
The kids were all grown up, each with their own lives. Why would they constantly hover around their parents?
But Everett didn’t seem upset. In fact, he seemed relieved.
“I wouldn’t want them to.” He slipped on his shirt, his fingers deftly buttoning it up. “Let them get married or whatever they need to do. I don’t want them intruding on our time together.”
Everett was willing to provide financially, but he wouldn’t share Dorothy with anyone!
“You’re just getting more childish with age.”
She couldn’t help but smile as she left the dressing room, her gaze inadvertently drifting towards the study.
Still talking.
Wonder how it’s going.
…
When Miles walked out with his guest, Dorothy and Everett were waiting in the living room.
Everett, who had been in shorts and a tee, was now dressed in a sharp, dark suit, sitting upright as if he was about to conduct business. This only added to Felicity’s nerves, making her feel even more pressured.
“You said after you’re done with current work, you’ll start wedding preparations?”
“Yes.” Miles nodded.
Dorothy chimed in, “Getting married is a big deal. He should definitely be involved in planning the wedding with Felicity.”
“And what about the rest of your company’s work?”
“…”
Miles hadn’t expected his dad to catch on so quickly and pretended to be a bit conflicted.
“If there’s no other way, I guess I’ll have to ask Byte 7 for help!”
“It’s just that my next project overlaps with Mom’s Trust-E Investments venture! I thought you might get jealous or upset if you helped out, but it seems like you’re not keen… So, Byte 7 it is! After all, it’s just some collaborative work; if Mom and Byte 7 end up having a business lunch now and then, it’s all in a day's work. Dad, I know you’ll understand.”
