Everett's thin lips were pressed tightly together. He did not utter a single word, but the tension in the air had plummeted to an all-time low.
Dorothy had never seen him like this before and instinctively stepped back.
Seeming to realize that he had frightened her, Everett's handsome face softened a bit, and his low and raspy voice hit her ears.
"I disagree."
"Mr. Lopez, I know this situation has put you in a tough spot, so I'll handle the rest on my own. If I haven't done anything, I'll surely find a way to prove it."
Now that the Lopez Corporation had decided to fire her, they'd be on opposing sides in any arbitration or court case.
So Dorothy wanted to clear the air with Everett first.
"Dorothy, come home with me." Everett cajoled her. His tone was gentle and patient, like a man trying to coax his rebellious wife back home.
A stark contrast from his cold demeanor just moments ago.
This was happening right at Karen's doorstep.
Dorothy knew she couldn't afford to keep Everett here for too long. Even if Karen was not home, people might recognize him due to his high-profile status and frequent magazine cover appearances.
Things could get even more complicated.
But she didn't want to go back with Everett either.
"As for the penalty for breaching our agreement, you can tell me when you've sorted things out on your end. I won't dodge it. But today isn't a good day to talk about this. Mr. Lopez, maybe you should leave?"
This was probably the first time in Everett's life that he'd been shown the door.

The readers' comments on the novel: The CEO's Hidden Love: Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires
Sometimes Karen can be such a drama queen and immature....
For some reason I am now feeling suspicious about Kevin's new girlfriend....
I really hope this Perdita person is not a new villain....
I too echoed the sentiments of pppplllleeeaaaassssseeeeee bring this drama to an end. I beg of you!...
Really please finish this book and upload the full story so it can end. It's been drugout for so long!...
The intimate scenes in this story or uncomfortable to read. They either come off as being forced, painful, or simply not enjoyable....
Okay I left a long while ago and came back. Looks like it's been updated but still not done lol. I'll maybe wait 6 months before coming back and it'll probably still be going on. It's like a soap opera instead of a novel...
Kenneth is confirming something I've been thinking about him for several hundred chapters ago and that is he is a future murder suicide perpetrator. And after reading chapter 1275 yeah it's just brought the thought back....
How could Jeffrey throw the knife down at the scene of the crime with both their fingerprints on there?...
Again no update, so is this where it ends? Or post the whole book. Your dragging this out...
