Dorothy frowned a little.
This was not what she cared about.
"I know. You've mentioned it before."
If Everett's crush was actually Heather, none of this would have happened.
But Heather would still be against her.
"Let's eat first." Everett ended the conversation again with a barely audible sigh.
He knew that Dorothy was not composed enough to take in what he was saying and make the right decision. Her decisions were rash.
He chose to ignore her requests to cancel the contract and divorce.
...
At the hospital, two bodyguards were stationed at the entrance of Amanda's room just in case she tried to harm herself again.
Only after confirming that Everett was not at the hospital did Heather sneak over to see Amanda.
"Amanda, why are you acting so silly?" As soon as she entered, she hugged Amanda. "Even if Everett doesn't want to marry me, don't force him, and don't hurt yourself anymore! I don't want to lose someone who cares about me."
The more she listened, the angrier she got. She wished for nothing more than to find Dorothy right now.
Heather quickly reached out to calm her. "Don't get angry; look on the bright side. The company has already settled this matter, right?"
"That's just the surface of the incident. Have you thought about this on a deeper level? Why do you think this Dorothy can do such morally corrupt things? Isn't it because she thinks my son will support her and handle all her troubles for her? How can a company with such employees be good?"
Heather pretended to be enlightened. She then feigned a panic state, quickly lowering her head and trying to defend Dorothy. "Maybe she was desperate. I heard that her mother's illness is very serious and life-threatening. She could die at any time. As a daughter, Dorothy might have had no choice."
"That's her mother's problem! Heather, you're just too kind. You’re always looking on the bright side and always thinking that everyone has a good side, but the world is often not enough for the greedy!" Amanda was very determined in her heart. She would only recognize Heather as her daughter-in-law. "Sweetheart, you must stand firmly by my side. For the sake of the Lopez Corporation, we have to drive that Dorothy away!"

Why didn't Jeffrey call Everett from the office? Lock his door instruct security to not let anyone in and speak to Everett on the phone? Or send him a text giving him a quick summary of what's up and that he's on his way over. That way when he runs into Heather on his way out he informs her Everett already knows....
