His simple message instantly dissipated all of Dorothy's fatigue and worries that she had accumulated throughout the day.
That was probably the power of love. No wonder everyone craved it.
[Alright, be careful out there.]
[Hmm.]
After putting down her phone, Dorothy went to take a bath to relax.
After changing into a leisurely outfit, she subconsciously checked when her period was due.
Before she was married, Dorothy's period would often be late due to work or life stress, so she never freaked out about it, thinking that this time it must have been because there was too much going on, which caused her some health issues.
But in the past, it would only be late by just three to five days.
It seemed like she would have to pay a visit to the doctor soon.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
Dorothy quickly went to open it, and sure enough, it was Everett's assistant. He was carrying loads of bags; it looked like a feast.
"I'm just one person. There's no way I can finish all this."
"Mr. Lopez was worried you might not like some of the dishes, so he asked me to buy everything that could be quickly prepared." Everett’s assistant was now much more respectful to Dorothy. It was quite a change from his previous attitude.
Before, he probably thought she was just another girl in Mr. Lopez's life, but now it was clear that she was the apple of Mr. Lopez's eye.
His respectful attitude made Dorothy feel a bit embarrassed.
"It's late; you should go home and rest."
"Alright. Thank you, Mrs. Lopez."
"Just call me Dorothy; I'm not used to the title." She felt like she didn’t really fit the role.
When she finished, Everett didn't respond, which made Dorothy feel a bit awkward.
After a few seconds, she asked softly, "Hello? What's wrong?"
"I just finished my last meeting. I'm heading home now, so I should be there in about four hours."
Dorothy was taken aback. "It's really late! You should rest there; you still have work tomorrow."
"But you miss me." There was an unmistakable joy in Everett's voice. "So I have to go back."
No matter how late or tired he was, he still wanted to be by her side.
"Everett..."
"You don't have to wait for me. Go to bed after you eat."
"But... I want to wait for you."
