Dorothy felt a chill of apprehension, so she didn't wander far. Instead, she chose a nearby bench to sit on.
The call connected, and the driver's voice sounded on the other end.
"Sorry to bother you so late."
"No problem. Where are you now?" Dorothy lowered her voice, not wanting to disturb the other hospital patients.
"I'm near Tranquil Road. I can't seem to hail a cab, and I'm trying to get back to my hotel."
Dorothy searched for the hotel on her map app, then carefully explained how to get there.
The man on the other end listened in silence until she asked, "Did you get all that?"
"Mmm. I'm listening."
"That's about it. If you still can't find your way, hit me up on WhatsApp or try to make it to the main street. There should be cabs there."
"Alright."
Dorothy glanced at the time on her wristwatch and murmured, “Since you're in Havenbrook City, should I deliver the receipt to you tomorrow?”
"No need." The driver responded without hesitation. "I'll ask you if I need it."
Dorothy was a bit puzzled.
Previously, she had deleted his contact, but he added her back just to get this receipt.
But now, when she repeatedly offered to give him the receipt, he seemed to be avoiding it. He didn’t show a pressing need for the receipt.
"Thank you."
"No need."
Without any further fuss, the call ended.
Dorothy’s mind was still in a whirl, so she didn't continue to dwell on it.
She got up from the bench, intending to head back to the ward, when suddenly, Dorothy heard something being kicked behind her.
It was very close.
What could it be at this time of night?

The readers' comments on the novel: The CEO's Hidden Love: Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires
Sometimes Karen can be such a drama queen and immature....
For some reason I am now feeling suspicious about Kevin's new girlfriend....
I really hope this Perdita person is not a new villain....
I too echoed the sentiments of pppplllleeeaaaassssseeeeee bring this drama to an end. I beg of you!...
Really please finish this book and upload the full story so it can end. It's been drugout for so long!...
The intimate scenes in this story or uncomfortable to read. They either come off as being forced, painful, or simply not enjoyable....
Okay I left a long while ago and came back. Looks like it's been updated but still not done lol. I'll maybe wait 6 months before coming back and it'll probably still be going on. It's like a soap opera instead of a novel...
Kenneth is confirming something I've been thinking about him for several hundred chapters ago and that is he is a future murder suicide perpetrator. And after reading chapter 1275 yeah it's just brought the thought back....
How could Jeffrey throw the knife down at the scene of the crime with both their fingerprints on there?...
Again no update, so is this where it ends? Or post the whole book. Your dragging this out...
