If Everett knew that Dorothy had borne his child, and as a father, he was obligated to take responsibility, to marry Dorothy.
But Dorothy, she would never marry him!
Everett's parents' reaction to this news was something Jeffrey didn't dare to think about.
Before, he thought they were just fond of Heather and wanted her to be their daughter-in-law, as simple as that! But ever since he suspected them of being the force behind the death of Dorothy's mother, Jeffrey didn't see it that way anymore.
Apparently, anyone standing in their way had to be removed!
Dorothy’s child would face a grim fate. Heather would be a terrible stepmother, and Dorothy was not accepted by the Lopez family. This was a dilemma, and it suddenly loomed before Everett.
Choosing Dorothy would mean Everett's mother could fall ill and pass away at any time, and Everett would lose the woman who had raised him all his life.
But to save his mother, he would have to abandon Dorothy.
In this situation, all Jeffrey could do was pray that the child really wasn't Dorothy's, or perhaps the child wasn't Everett’s at all! At least the current balance could be maintained.
…
Heather hailed a taxi.
She first went to the Lopez Corporation, sorted out her files in the office, and clocked in before leaving the company.
She got into another car before dialing a virtual number on her phone.
"Are you sure you won't be found out?"
"I know what I'm doing, don't worry! Don't forget my money." The voice on the other end was also synthetic.
"What are you afraid of with me here? Everything of the Lopez family has long been in my grasp. I have been laying low for so many years, and the things I've done for the Lopez family are unmatched."
The man laughed, "When will you be publicly acknowledged by Everett? I heard he..."
"That's none of your business! He's busy and doesn't want to rush the wedding. That's why there's been no preparation. But hasn't the engagement been announced? He announced it himself."
"So the mysterious bride everyone's talking about is you?"
"Who else could it be?" Heather retorted.
The man chuckled, "Okay, what are you planning to do with the child?"
Heather was silent for a while before she spoke, "How much to get rid of this child?"

Why didn't Jeffrey call Everett from the office? Lock his door instruct security to not let anyone in and speak to Everett on the phone? Or send him a text giving him a quick summary of what's up and that he's on his way over. That way when he runs into Heather on his way out he informs her Everett already knows....
