It was an ironclad excuse that sealed everyone's lips in an instant.
When the CEO handpicks an assistant, who dares to utter a word?
After the meeting, Everett stood up to leave, with Kevin trailing just behind him as they entered the CEO's private elevator.
Once the doors slid shut, Kevin finally broke the silence. "Human Resources has notified Ms. Sanchez about the position."
"Right," Everett responded, his face the picture of serenity. "She'll probably ask to resign."
He had Dorothy figured out long ago.
"Indeed, but she's got a contract. Ms. Sanchez won't resign so easily."
The elevator dinged, and the doors opened.
Everett strode out, then paused and glanced back at Kevin. "Tell me, do you think what I'm doing is a bit underhanded?"
Despite the years at the helm, Everett had never abused his power or coerced anyone. Even when he wanted Dorothy to join the Lopez Corporation's headquarters, he had Kevin mentor her rather than parachuting her into the position.
This was, perhaps, the first time Everett had been so oblivious to someone else's wishes.
Kevin didn't see the issue. He chuckled, "Mr. Lopez, why do you think we earn this money and hold this power?"
Everett raised an eyebrow, prompting him to go on.
"Isn't it so we can do what we want and keep who we want?"
"Makes sense when you put it like that."

The readers' comments on the novel: The CEO's Hidden Love: Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires
Sometimes Karen can be such a drama queen and immature....
For some reason I am now feeling suspicious about Kevin's new girlfriend....
I really hope this Perdita person is not a new villain....
I too echoed the sentiments of pppplllleeeaaaassssseeeeee bring this drama to an end. I beg of you!...
Really please finish this book and upload the full story so it can end. It's been drugout for so long!...
The intimate scenes in this story or uncomfortable to read. They either come off as being forced, painful, or simply not enjoyable....
Okay I left a long while ago and came back. Looks like it's been updated but still not done lol. I'll maybe wait 6 months before coming back and it'll probably still be going on. It's like a soap opera instead of a novel...
Kenneth is confirming something I've been thinking about him for several hundred chapters ago and that is he is a future murder suicide perpetrator. And after reading chapter 1275 yeah it's just brought the thought back....
How could Jeffrey throw the knife down at the scene of the crime with both their fingerprints on there?...
Again no update, so is this where it ends? Or post the whole book. Your dragging this out...
