Karen had finally had enough of Jeffrey's silence and decided to leave on her own.
With every step she took, he followed closely behind.
Annoyance flared within her.
"Can't you take a hint?"
"Yeah, I can." His voice was low, his eyelashes casting shadows over his cheeks. Thank goodness the evening was dim, the stairwell light barely punctuating the darkness, hiding the single tear that threatened to betray him. "I promised Dorothy I'd see you home."
"I can walk by myself."
"Just let me walk you, at least... walk our child home.”
Karen's lips parted, but no harsh words came out. She resigned herself to his company.
The journey seemed endless, each step weighed down with the gravity of their situation.
It was rare for them to share such a quiet moment together. Jeffrey wished her apartment was higher, just a few more stairs to climb, and just a little more time for them to spend together.
But the stairs always come to an end.
They reached the front door of Karen's apartment.
When she knocked, the door swung open almost immediately. Dorothy had been waiting.
Seeing Karen, and Jeffrey lingering behind, she knew things were unresolved.
But then, how could they resolve something like this?
Karen couldn't possibly ask Jeffrey to make that kind of sacrifice.
"Come in," Dorothy said, reaching out to take Karen's hand. She gave Jeffrey a long, meaningful look, her lips pressed tight as she closed the door behind them.
"Dorothy, I'm doing the right thing, aren't I?"

The readers' comments on the novel: The CEO's Hidden Love: Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires
Sometimes Karen can be such a drama queen and immature....
For some reason I am now feeling suspicious about Kevin's new girlfriend....
I really hope this Perdita person is not a new villain....
I too echoed the sentiments of pppplllleeeaaaassssseeeeee bring this drama to an end. I beg of you!...
Really please finish this book and upload the full story so it can end. It's been drugout for so long!...
The intimate scenes in this story or uncomfortable to read. They either come off as being forced, painful, or simply not enjoyable....
Okay I left a long while ago and came back. Looks like it's been updated but still not done lol. I'll maybe wait 6 months before coming back and it'll probably still be going on. It's like a soap opera instead of a novel...
Kenneth is confirming something I've been thinking about him for several hundred chapters ago and that is he is a future murder suicide perpetrator. And after reading chapter 1275 yeah it's just brought the thought back....
How could Jeffrey throw the knife down at the scene of the crime with both their fingerprints on there?...
Again no update, so is this where it ends? Or post the whole book. Your dragging this out...
