Leopold's fingers tapped on the desktop, deep in thought. "Fredric was drugged at the party?"

Aurelia nodded. "Yep, that's what he claims. God knows if it's true. How about you send someone to dig into it? If it were true, we would drag the scumbag who did it into the light and make him pay."

A sinister glint flashed in Leopold's eyes as he immediately called Kevin to investigate the party incident.

"I'm heading over to talk to Jelena after work," Aurelia said. "She used to be so free-spirited and open-minded. Now she's changed. Has she been, um, what's the term? Gaslighted by Fredric?"

Leopold choked on her words, a strange look crossing his face. "Gaslighted? Don't let your imagination run wild."

Aurelia could tell he was protective of his kin, a true family man.

"Just remember, Jelena is your family, too. Make sure you're fair, and don't play favorites."

Leopold approached her, stretching out his hand to ruffle her hair.

"If she weren't your cousin, this would be much simpler."

Aurelia pouted. That was true. Leopold would veto the whole mess if it weren't for the family ties. It would be simple, direct, and brutal with no second thoughts.

"So, are you planning to use your veto power or not?"

Leopold's fingers teased her chin, a devilish smile playing on his lips, looking devilishly handsome without a care for the rest of the world.
