William quipped with a smirk, "Geoffrey must be so insecure about his looks that he can't face the world without his mask."
Kane nodded sagely. "The face is the index of the heart. A vile person is bound to be hideous on the outside too."
Raines narrowed his eyes, the deep brown pupils taking on an ominous cast, as if shrouded in shadows.
"You lot are a bunch of naive kids. It sounds like none of you have ever laid eyes on him. You don't even know if he's ugly or handsome."
"No good-looking guy would ever hide behind a mask," declared Skyler with utmost seriousness. "Take me for instance. I never wear a mask. Why would I deprive the world of this pinnacle of handsomeness?"
William shook his head and sighed. "Ah, it's so tragic. You two are brothers, and you're drop-dead gorgeous, while he's just... not. He must be green with envy, dreaming of being as handsome as you."
Skyler stroked his cheek. "How did I end up so dashing? I'm the guy people love at first sight. Poor Geoffrey has got it rough, ugly and friendless."
"You've never considered Geoffrey your brother, have you?" Raines' voice was eerily calm like the deep-sea currents before a tsunami.
"Of course, I have," Skyler retorted earnestly. "I've always treated him like a brother, but he never reciprocates. He's too busy hurting us, clawing for power and influence. As my dad always says, 'Family should stick together and face the world united.' The ones who stir trouble at home are the worst kind of useless."
Raines curled his lips into a faint smile. "Such a good boy, always listening to your daddy."
"Because what dad says is always right," Skyler affirmed.
