"I miss Mommy too," Mira said softly.
Fredric gently patted their heads and comforted them, "We'll visit Mom in a couple of days, okay?"
Aurelia walked in with a beaming smile. "How about we go to the lakeside and set off fireworks tonight?"
The kids clapped their hands excitedly. "Yeah!"
Skyler sighed. "Man, another New Year's... Dad used to say every New Year's makes you a year older. I don't wanna grow up anymore. I'll be old!"
William chuckled. "Uncle Skyler, you're still young, not old."
Skyler let out a long sigh, drooping his head. "But my body is over thirty now. If I get any older, I can't just eat anything I want. I could end up with all those health issues."
Now, Angel made him low-sugar pancakes. Angel said he had to watch his health, prevent those negative conditions, and lay off the sweets. Oh, the tragedy...
If only bodies wouldn't grow up and we could stay kids forever.
William patted his shoulder sympathetically. ‘Poor Skyler, he doesn’t want to grow up, but his body doesn’t seem to get the memo.’
"Skyler, maybe we can research a way to reverse aging together?"
Skyler scratched his head. "That's gonna be tough."
"Who knows? Maybe by the time we grow up, we'll have figured it out. Crack the genetic code, and we can start looking for solutions," William said earnestly.
Skyler grabbed a piece of pineapple pizza, a comfort for his wounded soul.
Leopold and his brothers went fishing by the lake.
In the yard, the kids were swinging baseball bats.
Aurelia, along with Lisbeth and Beverley, sat nearby, basking in the sun and watching the fun.
