The CEO’S Unplanned Heir novel (Aurelia and Leopold) novel Chapter 1168

Aurelia said, "Raines should be safe for now."

Raines was essentially a bargaining chip in Geoffrey's hands. As long as he was valuable, they wouldn’t kill him.

Lisbeth felt a wave of relief wash over her. She was determined to rescue Raines, regardless of whether he was willing to forgive her or not.

After finishing lunch, Lisbeth took her leave.

Aurelia napped briefly, then joined Jessica in the garden for some afternoon tea.

Jessica took a sip of her tea, “As Leopold's wife, you sure have work cut out for you, do you?”

Jessica was quite pleased with Aurelia. Despite her youth, she was clever, brave and decisive, a perfect partner in crime for Leopold, ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with him in battle.

Aurelia gave a small smile, “Leopold and I have to clean up the mess Chad left behind, so Kane can have a clear path as heir.”

Men who shirked responsibility always left their mess for the next generation.

If Chad were still alive to see this chaos, forcing his son to deal with it, would he feel any guilt?

Jessica twisted her face into a mocking sneer, “Human greed knows no bounds. With opportunity comes ambition. Tanya must have instilled plenty of hatred in that boy, grooming him from childhood to be a machine of vengeance. His life is rather tragic.”

Aurelia stirred her iced tea absentmindedly.

Geoffrey seemed quite devoted to Tanya, hell-bent on getting her out.

Or perhaps it wasn’t devotion but necessity. Without Tanya, he was somewhat out of his depth. Tanya was his rock and his financial pillar.

“Maybe he doesn’t see it, blinded by power and ambition.”

Since Tanya had been locked up, Geoffrey had been sending texts to manipulate and gaslight Skyler.

If Skyler became his right-hand man, it would be a significant advantage for Geoffrey.

But Skyler, although seemingly naive and impulsive, was quite opinionated and unpredictable.

Controlling him was easier said than done.

Sitting on the beach, she took a sip of her coffee.

While the staff were busy, she sneaked off to the woods to work on her makeshift raft.

She had completed a quarter of the raft, hiding it under leaves to keep it from the prying eyes.

She couldn’t just sit and wait but tried to escape.

The work was physically demanding. She was no longer young, so progress was slow.

But time was something she had in abundance. Bit by bit, she would finish.

Once she returned, she would deal harshly with Skyler, her wayward son.

Had it not been for his betrayal, Leopold would have been dead by her hand. And she wouldn’t be in this pitiful state.

Everything she had done was for Skyler, and yet he showed no gratitude, betraying her, turning against his blood.
