The next day, a posse of doctors filed into Agent A's hospital room.
"Mr. Raines, we're moving you to a premier convalescent home associated with the BioResearch lab. It'll allow the experts to monitor your condition closely and expedite the development of an antidote."
Agent A had a sinking feeling that it was either Fredric or Leopold trying to put him under house arrest, severing his ties with the outside world.
"I'm staying put, not going anywhere." Agent A insisted.
"Mr. Raines, it's for your good, please cooperate."
Without further ado, the doctors hoisted him onto a gurney.
He roared in fury, "Let me go, I ain't going nowhere! I'm the young master of the Stirling family. You can't do this to me."
Just then, Lisbeth rushed in, acting clueless, and blocked the gurney, "Where are you taking my husband?"
"Lady Lisbeth, no need to worry. Mr. Raines is just being transferred to a facility that's closer to the lab, allowing the doctors to develop an antidote more swiftly."
"I'm going with him," Lisbeth gripped Agent A's arm firmly.
"Of course," nodded the doctor. Then they left the hospital and boarded an ambulance.
Lisbeth patted Agent A's shoulder, "Don't worry, I'll be by your side the whole time and won't let anyone touch you."
Agent A had no choice but to trust Lisbeth. She needed her monthly dose of antibiotics to survive, so he doubted she'd dare betray him.
Upon arriving at the secret sanatorium, Agent A found himself under strict surveillance. Contacting the outside world became a challenge. He could only rely on Lisbeth to relay messages.
He was livid.
Lisbeth probed, feigning curiosity, "Do you know Geoffrey? Does he have any ties to our organization?"
Agent A replied, "I don't know him. What connection could he have with us?"
"Well, he's known for his skill with poisons, and he's tried to poison Leopold and Aurelia several times. I thought he might be one of us."
Agent A glowered at her, "Why all the nonsense? I said it's not him and that's final. Just follow my orders and stop questioning me."
Lisbeth shrugged, "Fine, I'll drop it. But you're the one who's poisoned. If we get it wrong and can't get the antidote, you're the one who's screwed."
Agent A was on the verge of passing out from frustration. "Are you looking to rebel? Do you have a death wish? Be careful or I'll cut off your antibiotics."
Lisbeth nonchalantly replied, "You won't do that. Right now, I'm the only one who can help you. If I die, you're toast too."
