Leopold straightened up, grabbing the glass of milk off the coffee table and downing it in one gulp, as though trying to extinguish a fire inside him. 

Why did he always feel like he was being manipulated by this woman? 

Yet, this damned manipulation was undeniably effective. 

This was a man’s competitive nature. 

He absolutely couldn’t be outdone by Arnold! 

Laura emerged from the kitchen, a tray of fruit in her hands, a small smile playing on her lips. “Falling in love is a matter between two people, but marriage involves two families. When two people marry, they don’t just gain a partner, they also gain family members of each other. So, it’s important not only to consider your partner, but also their family. It’s completely normal for a couple to have disagreements and arguments from time to time. Which couple doesn’t have its ups and downs, and which family doesn’t have its conflicts?” 

Aurelia nodded. “That’s why it’s best to get to know each other well before getting married. To understand each other and each other’s families.” 

Leopold remained silent. If it was a woman he truly wanted to marry, no problem would be insurmountable. There was nothing he couldn’t deal with.

Aurelia bit into an apple, her voice low. “How’s the investigation into Evelyn’s situation going?” 

“You don’t need to worry about that. I’ll find out everything.” 

His tone was nonchalant, the IP address of the rumor–spreader already in his possession. But he decided to hold off on confronting them for now. 

Aurelia didn’t ask further, turning on the TV and sinking into the sofa. 

“I’m going to catch up on my show. It’s produced by Serenity Films, really top–notch. They have a knack for picking high–quality actors, both in looks and acting skills. Especially our Avery, the future rising star.” 

Leopold smirked, his amusement apparent. Self–praise was a sure sign of pride. 

“The entertainment industry is a mixed bag, full of conflicts and controversies. Don’t set your expectations too high, it’s better to keep a level head.” 

Aurelia gave him a sidelong glance, her thick lashes fluttering, a spark of humour in her eyes. “Can’t help it, our Avery comes with a powerful backer. How can we keep a level head?” 

Leopold’s gaze hardened, becoming icy cold. “Which backer?” 

Feeling the sudden chill in the air, Aurelia quickly grabbed a cushion for warmth. “Do I even need to say? Just before your eyes.” 

With his sharp gaze fixed on her, dare she mention anyone else? 

“At least you’re clear–headed.” 

Leopold reached out, patting her head, his gaze softening. He wouldn’t mind hearing more of such pleasing words. 

Aurelia stuck out her tongue, keeping her thoughts to herself. Being around him was like being on thin ice.
