Chapter 169
Aurelia playfully stuck out her tongue.
Actually, Avery and Sophie do make quite a good on–screen couple.
After all, age–gap romances have been in vogue lately. As the saying goes, age is just a number.
Arnold picked up a pebble and lightly tossed it. The little pebble skipped across the water’s surface, creating ripples that spread out in concentric circles.
“If I really do start dating someone, will you get jealous?”
“Huh?” She paused, then burst into laughter. “You’re not the type to prioritize romantic relationships over friendships, why would I get jealous?”
Arnold lowered his gaze, feeling a mix of amusement and exasperation.
The sunlight illuminated her face, making her look more innocent, pure, bright, and youthful.
Perhaps this kind of relationship was just nice, carefree and without any reservations.
“I’ve always put my closest friends first. Friends are more important for me.”
She blinked, her glistening eyes were like two bright stars in the sky, shining and pure.
“Wouldn’t your girlfriend be upset, thinking that you don’t value her?”
He fiddled with the sand beneath his feet, a smirk playing on his lips. “If she’s too petty, it only means we’re not a good match. I’ve dated a few girls before, but unfortunately, none of them were the kind of person I could truly connect with.”
She let out a soft sigh, and revealed a touch of self–deprecating humor, “True love can’t be sought out; it’s a matter of fate. I’m quite zen about it, not wanting to make an effort, just waiting for fate to come to me.”
Arnold couldn’t help but chuckle. She truly was indeed a slow–type, someone who needed him to warm her up gradually.
After the shoot, they had dinner together before Aurelia headed back to her apartment.
She had no choice but to follow the orders of her boss; otherwise she would face severe consequences.
As she pushed open the door, she saw a stranger sitting on her couch. Just she was about to inquire, the woman introduced herself, “Ms. Aurelia, I’m Yuna and I’ll be your driver from now on. I live next door, so feel free to call me anytime you need a ride.”
“Oh.” She responded. She didn’t expect that her boss had even arranged a car for her. But she hoped it wouldn’t also come with surveillance of her movements.
After Yuna left, she took a shower and changed into a loose nightgown. She lay on the couch, not wanting
to move.
As the months passed by, her body felt heavier than before, and spending a day outside was quite tiring.
Just as she was about to doze off, a tall figure silently approached. His large hand gently rested on her slightly bulging belly.
She was taken back, instantly alert. When she saw the man’s handsome face, she instinctively shifted closer into the couch. “Mr. Leopold, you’re here.”
His gaze turned sharp with a deep chill in his eyes, “Taking my children out overnight, did you get my
permission?”
She took a deep breath. “I told Laura about it, didn’t she relay it to you?”
Hearing the word ‘relay‘, Leopold grew irritated. “From now on, you must personally seek my permission.”
Aurelia was exasperated. “Mr. Leopold, please respect my freedom.”
