Chapter 170
Her heart raced in her chest, “Put me down…I can walk on my own.”
“Don’t flatter yourself, I’m holding the children, not you.” A cold, wicked smirk played on his lips.
He had no interest in hugging a scheming woman. It was just her daydream!
Aurelia felt like sobbing. She was nothing more than a tool, no, not even a person just a tool!
It was truly miserable.
After he placed her on the bed, she hastily pulled up the blanket up, covering herself up to her neck, and then closed her eyes.
He chuckled coldly, roughly pulling her eyelids open, “Stop pretending; you can’t sleep.”
Aurelia couldn’t sleep at all with this tyrant by her side; even if she had felt drowsy, it had been scared away.
“I’m waiting for you to tell stories to the babies, for prenatal education.”
Leopold’s hand rested on her belly, gently massaging it. His gaze held a touch of softness, but when he looked at her, it turned icy, “You should let Jolin know who her real son–in–law is so she doesn’t have any unnecessary misunderstandings.”
His tone was as light as a breeze, but the lighter it sounded, the more dangerous and the more chilling it became.
A shiver ran down her spine.
“Don’t worry, my mom won’t have such misunderstandings. When I was a student, I had plenty of suitors, but my mom never considered anyone as a potential son–in–law.”
“Oh?” Leopold raised an eyebrow, “Why do I feel like your mom has already started picking out a
son–in–law?”
Aurelia’s heart skipped a beat. Could it be that some words from her mom had led to his misunderstanding and his displeasure?
“Mr. Leopold, rest assured, no matter how my mom selects, she won’t pick you. She has a clear vision of what kind of person her daughter should be with, and she’d never imagine that I would marry a man as distinguished as you!”
She said seriously, completely unaware of the icy undertone in the man’s eyes, which was quietly gathering.
Her words felt like a bone stuck in his throat, making it impossible for him to swallow or spit out, leaving him with internal injuries.
“What about Arnold?” he squeezed out through gritted teeth.
She shrugged, “Even less likely. Just as you said, Arno and I are going to be lifelong friends. My mom already considers him her godson.”
She could see that he was just being possessive, wanting to claim even her, this simple vessel of his babies. She had no intention of meekly yielding, letting her dignity and future happiness be surrendered into his hands.
Leopold’s anger didn’t fade; the thorn in his heart was still there, unable to be removed!
Aurelia stole a glance at him and quickly changed the topic.
“The babies just moved a bit, probably waiting for you to tell a story.”
He took a deep breath through gritted teeth, relaxing his tightly pursed lips. “Tomorrow, I’ve scheduled an appointment with the doctor for your prenatal checkup.”
“Oh.” She replied, gently caressing her belly.
He picked up a book from the bedside table and began to read, his icy voice slowly turning milder.
Early the next morning, Aurelia arrived at the hospital.
After completing various routine check–ups, she went for a 4D ultrasound.
Finally, she could clearly see the babies‘ appearance: their little eyes, little noses, little mouths, and tiny
hands and feet…
