Chapter 187
The room sank into an eerie silence, as though the very air had frozen in time.
Leopold paced restlessly around the room, finally succumbing to his irritation. He snatched her phone from. her hands, “You need to sleep.”
Instead of her usual reaction – a fiery glare, a pout, and a string of muttered protests under her breath- Aurelia lay down obediently like a robot following commands. She pulled the blanket over herself and closed her eyes, her face a mask of icy indifference.
This only served to fuel his frustration!
He suddenly realized that her usually argumentative mouth, now silent and unmoving, infuriated him even
more!
His mood for babies talk evaporated. He stood rigidly by the bed, staring at her intensely.
But she seemed oblivious, her eyes remained closed, and not even a twitch disturbed her eyelids. She appeared to be genuinely asleep.
Inhaling deeply, he pulled out his phone and sent a WhatsApp message to Kevin.
[What does it mean when a woman who usually can’t stop talking and provokes you at every turn, suddenly becomes silent like a broken loudspeaker?]
Kevin’s response was swift: [She’s definitely mad at you.]
–
He gritted his teeth she was mad? Over what?
He certainly wasn’t going to indulge a woman’s tantrums, no one could afford to act petulant in front of him! Drawing a deep breath through clenched teeth, he turned to leave, slamming the door behind him with a loud clang.
Aurelia opened her eyes as a tear trickled down her cheek.
She wished she could end this quickly, leave this man, and put an end to his humiliation!
Leopold hadn’t showed up for two days, and she guessed he must be busy cozying up with Evelyn.
She didn’t mind being alone, it was quite peaceful.
On Friday, Avery and her mother returned. She called Jelena and invited her to Avery’s apartment for dinner.
In the CEO’s office, Leopold’s handsome face was frighteningly cold, and the chilly aura emanating from him. was enough to freeze the room.
Kevin stood a few feet away, feeling the chill creep into his bones.
Ever since Léopold sent that strange WhatsApp message three nights ago, a dark cloud seemed to have settled over the CEO’s office, refusing to lift.
“Women are actually easy to appease when they’re angry. A small gift or a candlelight dinner can usually do the trick,” Kevin suggested cautiously.
Leopold barely raised an eyebrow at this, a cold glare shooting in Kevin’s direction, “Do you have nothing better to do?”
How could he possibly placate a woman? Especially a nonsignificant woman!
Kevin shrank back, “I’ll leave now.”
As he turned to go, Leopold stood up, “It’s lunchtime, join me in the cafeteria.”
1/2
Kevin understood. At this hour, Ms. Aurelia would definitely be eating in the cafeteria.
Aurelia always ate lunch on time, she became hungry when the clock struck noon, after all, she was eating
for three.
She sat with Jenny in a secluded corner.
“My favorite dish here is the fried pork chop, it’s crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the flavors are just perfect.”
