She raised her index finger, jabbing it into his chest with force. 

The harsher her words were, the deeper her pain grew and the stronger her resentment

Leopold felt like his chest was being punctured by her sharp words. He could no longer control his emotions, pulling her into his arms. 

Aurelia was both embarrassed and furious, punching his shoulder. “Let go of me! We’re divorced! You have no right to touch me!” 

He wouldn’t let go. Aurelia was out of control, driving him to the edge of sanity. 

“My absence will only be temporary. I’ll be back, so you’re not allowed to see anyone else.” Aurelia was drunk, her mind clouded by alcohol, unable to process his words. 

She thought he wanted to have his cake and eat it, too. He had discarded her but still expected her to be hopelessly devoted to him, just like Elowen and Evelyn.

“Don’t even think about having a second chance. I’m done with you. Let me go! Let go!” 

She pushed him forcefully, punched his shoulder, and kicked his shin. 

Unable to free herself, she bit his shoulder. Just thinking of him making out with Megan made her lose all reason, biting him hard and deep. 

The taste of blood spread in her mouth. 

Leopold grunted, his handsome features contorting in pain. 

“You can hate me and blame me, but it’s better than not caring me.” 

For a moment, he wanted to tell her the truth, but he held back. She was unpredictable, always doing things he didn’t expect. 

He feared she would secretly take on Megan, secretly risk her life, and fall into the 

enemy’s trap. 

The enemy had painstakingly planted Megan, not just to help her become the lady of the Stirling family but certainly for some other plan. 

The enemy knew Aurelia was his weakness. That was why they targeted her. 

They were in the open, while the enemies were in the shadows, which made it hard to guard against. 

He couldn’t take any risks. He had to ensure Aurelia’s safety.
