Chapter 600
Megan stumbled into the tent, her heart churning with a tempest of emotions.
Leopold never really saw her as his wife, always quarding against her. In his heart, it was Aurelia who was his true love.
If things continued this way, Megan's chances of securing her place as the lady of the Stirling family were slim.
She had to find a way to overcome her disadvantages.
The evening at the Twilight Club deepened.
The campsite was shrouded in silence, broken only by the occasional footsteps of a few security guards on their night patrol.
Aurelia, restless and unable to sleep, crawled out of her tent and sat on an open patch of grass to stargaze.
Leopold joined her, keeping company with her.
Aurelia gave him a sideways glance, "Can't sleep either?"
His lips curved into a devilish smile as he whispered in her ear, barely audible, "If you were by my side, I'm sure I'd fall asleep in no time."
She rolled her eyes at him, "Mr. Leopold, from now on, let's keep our distance, proper and clear, alright?"
Leopold's brow furrowed slightly, “Are you being sarcastic?"
She shrugged nonchalantly, "No, I've lost my interest in you."
A trace of melancholy appeared in his eyes as he replied, ‘One of these days, you'll regret it if I give you up out of frustration."
She choked on her words, "How could you possibly do that? The only one who might is me."
He was a veritable playboy, flitting from one affair to the next while restricting her freedom to love, a master of double standards.
Someday, it might drive her to despair.
His eyes narrowed, fixed on her, “Let's not fight, okay?"
"You were sleepwalking again,’ one guard said.
Megan's expression turned to one of terror as she clutched her head and crouched down, trembling, “It's starting again. They did this on purpose, knowing I wanted to leave AK Group. They cursed me as punishment."
She clung to Leopold's leg, "Leopold, I'm so scared. I really want to leave AK Group, but they won't let me go.
You have to save me."
Leopold looked down at her with a piercing gaze. He pried Megan's hands off and instructed the guards to take her back to her tent.
Aurelia picked up the fruit knife from the ground, her eyes darkening. Megan knew she was cursed, prone to sleepwalking, and yet she dared to sleep with a fruit knife? That was audacious, to say the least.
"Didn't she used to sleepwalk with makeup? Now she's upgraded to sleepwalking with a knife, and her target is me?"
A cold light flashed in Leopold's eyes.
"Go back to your tent. I'll handle this,’ he said, the undercurrent of his voice promising swift action.
