"Look who's talking.” Her response was casual as if to say she might be heartless, but he was far worse.

Leopold cradled her chin in his hands and kissed her fiercely as if this was the only way to mark his presence, to make it impossible for her to ignore him.

Megan strolled to the hotel entrance and spotted Skyler and William playing in the plaza before the hotel.

She looked around but caught no sign of Aurelia or Arnold but two bodyguards. Moreover, Leopold was conspicuously absent.

When William saw her, he ran up eagerly, “Megan, why haven't you left yet?"

Megan wanted to throttle the little brat, who she thought could never talk nicely.

"I'll leave when you do,’ she said, her tone flat.

William stuck out his tongue at her. “Uncle Leopold went home already. I've just FaceTimed with Kane. Uncle Leopold was playing chess with him."

Megan glared at him. “You're a little liar. I don't believe a word you say."

William shrugged. "Believe it or not, you're the one who is stuck here, not me."

“You're insufferable, absolutely insufferable,’ Megan hissed through clenched teeth.

William shrugged again and said leisurely, "I'm the good person, and you're the bad person. Bad people hate the good people because good people stop them from doing bad things."

Skyler swaqgered over, stomping his foot hard in front of Megan. “You're the villain, the big bad woman!"

Megan was a bit afraid of him. William was tiny and easy to deal with, but Skyler towered over her, and if he got angry, she'd be the one at a disadvantage.

Besides, he was Jessica's favorite nephew, and Jessica would undoubtedly take his side. Megan knew she'd have to suck it up.

"Skyler, this doesn't involve you. Please stay out of it, okay?"
