Chapter 684
"Thanks a bunch, William," Sierra chuckled through her tears.
If only Skyler could fancy her, and let her stay by his side, she could escape her life of hardship. No more drifting from place to place, no more hustling just to get a decent meal.
Tanya sat in the RV, peering out the window, contemplative. She had chosen Sierra precisely because she could keep her under her thumb.
Despite being down on her luck, Sierra carried a noble title, a proud inheritance from her father.
In Tanya's eyes, a woman like her was far more suitable for Skyler than those pampered darlings born with a silver spoon in their mouths.
Just then, a text message buzzed in, [Mom, you're at Elysiurn?] She replied swiftly, [Leopold knows about you now. Stay under the radar.] [No one will ever find me. I am Skyler’s shadow, and who can catch a shadow? Where he goes, I follow. Anyone who crosses him will vanish] [You've been a bit too active lately. Don't make a move without my say-so.] (Got it, Mom.] Tanya deleted the messages, leaving no trace, her lips curling into a warm, benign smile, only her eyes betraying a chilling intensity.
Outside the RV, everyone had gathered around a wooden table, engrossed in a murder mystery game.
William was still a child, shielded from the bloody narratives, so Aurelia had picked out an upbeat, puzzle-solving game for him.
After everyone had read their parts, they took turns introducing their characters.
Sierra drew the role of Eliza, a poor orphan, who fell from grace and was bullied.
Sierra couldn't help but relate, and as she introduced her character, tears began to stream down her face.
Skyler clicked his tongue, "Girls and their tears, even in a game."
Sierra sniffled, "But Skyler, I'm playing a child now, right? It's okay for children to cry"
Aurelia handed her a tissue, "Sierra, this is supposed to be a fun game, so why the waterworks?"
"I just feel for Eliza, is all’ Sierra sobbed.
