“William, strap this on. This is the latest high-sensitivity detector I’ve been working on. If there are any eavesdropping bugs or GPS trackers nearby, it’ll start beeping. The closer you are to the device, the louder it gets. The coolest thing about it was it can detect signals that regular detectors can’t.”
“That’s awesome,” William exclaimed, tucking the detector into his backpack with care.
The next day, Aurelia drove him to Skyler’s mansion. They hadn’t even reached the driveway when the detector started chirping.
“Mom, the alarm. Sky’s place has got trackers.” William yelped.
Aurelia hurried him inside.
Skyler rushed over to them, and as he did, the detector’s beeping intensified.
“What’s that thing, William?” Skyler asked.
“It’s a detector for tracking devices, Skyler. You’ve got a tracker on you.” William shouted.
Skyler frantically patted himself down, “Where?"
Aurelia scanned him with the detector, finally pausing at the nape of his neck. But there was nothing visible there.
William’s eyes widened in shock, “A tracker implanted in your neck?”
Aurelia was stunned. Had Geoffrey implanted a chip inside Skyler’s body?
She quickly called Leopold.
Before long, Leopold arrived and whisked Skyler off to the hospital for a CT scan.
The scan revealed a tiny foreign object at the base of Skyler’s neck.
After a thirty-minute surgery, the object was extracted.
It was indeed a microchip.
“He’s already asleep. Had a scare today when he was attacked today. William’s upstairs with him,” Leopold replied nonchalantly.
“Was it that incident at South Lake Plaza? I saw the news. He’s not hurt, is he?” Tanya immediately showed concern.
“He’s fine. We’ve got bodyguards on him all the time. No one can hurt him,” Leopold assured her, carefully avoiding any mention of Geoffrey’s deed to avoid spooking them.
“That’s a relief,” Tanya sighed.
Pouring her a cup of tea, Leopold said, “I heard you want him to treat Megan. Can a kid even understand medicine?”
Tanya smiled, her expression serene, “He studied pharmacology. I thought maybe he could be of use. After all, Megan is your wife, my niece-in-law, and she’s pregnant. I wanted to help out.”
Leopold smirked slightly, “You don’t have to worry. My team has already concocted an antidote. She won’t die.”
Tanya returned the smile, “She’s your wife, so I wanted to help her, for your sake.”
