The CEO’S Unplanned Heir novel (Aurelia and Leopold) novel Chapter 778

Aurelia's fingers trembled ever so slightly as she hastily grasped the coffee mug and took a sip.

"It can't be that serious." Aurelia said.

Sheryl didn't miss the subtle change in her reaction. She guessed that Aurelia must be aware of Leopold's condition and Arnold was certainly in the loop.

Both were playing dumb, conspiring for the position of the head of the Stirling family.

Ever since Leopold had been hospitalized, Aurelia used the excuse of caring for Kane to move into Stirling Mansion.

Her real purpose was undoubtedly to persuade Jessica to choose Arnold as regent to support Kane.

Luckily for her, Jessica had always been wary of Arnold. With Magnolia as her arch-enemy, itching for revenge, how could she possibly entrust him with power?

"According to Stirling family tradition, if something happens to Leopold, Kane will become the next heir and someone from among the uncles will be chosen to assist him. You're close with Arnold, so having him help Kane should put your mind at ease."

Aurelia took a delicate sip of her coffee.

She could see right through her schemes.

Leopold feigning illness and going off the grid was surely a way to bring out certain of their ambitions.

"Sheryl, I'm just an outsider now. Even though Kane is my son, all I can do is protect him from harm. As for everything else, it's out of my hands and beyond my standing to interfere."

Sheryl didn't believe she could stay entirely out of the fray. Once Leopold kicked the bucket, she was sure to marry Arnold and return to the Stirling family.

If Arnold became regent, she would effectively become the lady of the house, unafraid that Arnold would cling to power indefinitely. After all, she and Arnold shared a son, and eventually, the Stirling Group would fall into Kane's hands.

"You are just too uncontentious about it all, never fighting for more. Otherwise, Megan wouldn't have been able to steal your man."

"I believe in fate. What's meant to be will be, and there's no use forcing what's not."

Aurelia sighed softly, "The reason I agreed to the divorce was because Beverley read my fortune and told me my marriage had reached its end, and all persistence was futile. A phoenix must burn to emerge anew like me, and that is my future."
