“We used to threaten Aurelia with antibiotics, but now we can only trade drug for drug, life for life.”

“Your anxiety won’t speed things up. The poison is potent, and the Boss has to analyze its composition before creating an antidote,” Jewel explained.

Megan gritted her teeth, “If that poison affects my baby, I'll tear Kane to pieces.”

“Relax,” Jewel patted her shoulder, “The Boss won’t let Kane off the hook. If he lives, how can your baby rise to power?”
