"Can we be friends?" Ramona asked with a hopeful twinkle in her beautiful eyes as she looked at them.
"Sure," William replied with a grins. Making friends was something he never turned down. He was quite the social butterfly.
Kane spent most of his time sequestered within the sprawling confines of Stirling Mansion, rarely venturing out and usually only mingling with the Stirling children.
He wasn't fond of getting cozy with strangers and didn't need friends. His family was all that mattered to him.
Catching a glimpse of Kane's silence, Ramona ventured. "Kane, can we be friends?"
"Sorry, I don't do friends," Kane replied indifferently. He was used to being a loner.
Ramona's face fell and her head drooped, disappointment registering clearly. "Oh," she murmured.
Kane seemed to be a very guarded boy, close to no one except William and Mr. Heninger.
Sensing the awkwardness, William twirled his eyes and said, "Kane's the heir to our family. So, he has to be cautious about who he befriends. Just hang out with me. I'm a blast!"
Ramona looked puzzled. "Your family is that strict with the heir? No friends allowed?"
"It's all about safety. We have many cunning enemies," explained William.
Hooked by the conversation, Ramona quickly asked, "Enemies? Here in Elysium?"
William whispered in her ear, "There's a dark group called the AK Group. They're masters of poison. They've attempted to kill my Uncle Leopold twice with their poisons and just done it to him again. He's still in the hospital now."
Ramona shivered at the thought. Could this dark group be behind her parents' kidnapping?
"Haven't the cops nabbed them yet?"
"The cops wiped out their lair in Elysium, but their headquarters is overseas. They keep sending in operatives, tough to eradicate..."
"Thanks."
Born into royalty, Vivian was a princess, and every move she made was graceful.
Pinnacle Ivy League School was an elite international academy with steep tuition fees. Only the brightest and wealthiest families could afford to send their kids there.
Ramona smiled. "Vivian's my roommate."
They were paired in the school's department, sharing a room.
Vivian was fascinated by astronomy. She aspired to be the first person to set foot on Mars.
"The universe is immense, and it's a must-see. Sometimes, I think every planet might be alive, and they communicate with each other. And we just don't know it yet. To Earth, we are like tiny bacteria."
