Ramona cast her gaze downward, taking a sip of her fruit juice. She was a perceptive child, and she could sense an undertone in Aurelia's words.
"Could it be that Dad had sent a secret signal to Leopold, alerting him to danger?"
"I understand," she murmured in response.
Aurelia handed her a business card with her phone number, "If you need anything, just call me. Don't be afraid. Here in Elysium, we're your family."
Aurelia's kindness and easygoing nature wrapped a blanket of warmth around Ramona's heart. "Thank you." Ramona said.
After the meal, Aurelia left.
Skyler and the kids headed back to their respective apartments.
Pinnacle Ivy League School, with its elite stature, was equipped with all the trappings of luxury. Whether they were boarders or day students, everyone was provided with an apartment for midday rests.
William and Kane naturally shared an apartment.
William locked the door and drew the curtains before peeling off his prosthetic face, a mask so lifelike it fooled everyone.
"I don't want to be William today. I want to be Kane. Will you be William for me?"
"Sure." Kane nodded, gingerly fitting the mask onto his own face, "This mask is quite comfy, thin. Feels like wearing nothing at all."
William stretched into a grin, almost forgetting the sensation of walking mask-less, and it felt odd to be barefaced.
"Remember to act the part. Don't give us away," Kane warned.
William quickly straightened his smile, and Kane was never one to grin broadly.
Then came a knock at the door.
It was little Einstein, Rocky.
"William, I heard you're designing a UFO. Is it true?"
"Yes." Kane nodded, playing the role of William for the day.
Rocky's eyes sparkled, "Have you drawn the blueprints yet? Can I see them?"
