Aurelia returned with Skyler and the kids in tow.
Upon seeing her, Lilith hurried over and said, “Aurelia, Ritchie and I are about to sign with Serenity Media Solutions. Don't forget what you promised me before.”
Aurelia knew she was referring to the Hermes reward and smiled, “Don't worry, I never go back on my word.”
Whether Ritchie could stick it out was another question altogether.
He was the type who would fish for three days and then sunbathe for two, dabbling in things like game streaming before giving it up as too much hassle. He preferred the comfort of sprawling on the couch with a game controller in hand.
Just then, Perla called, insisting that Lilith come home to cook since she was starving.
Without missing a beat, Lilith retorted, “Uncle Zack grilled up some lobsters today, and they've asked us to stay for dinner. If you're hungry, just order some takeout.” With that, she hung up.
The chef had dinner ready, and Zack called his parents.
Tonight's feast featured lobsters. These were prime, succulent lobsters straight from the sun-kissed waters.
The servants set out the utensils.
Lilith couldn't help but be impressed by the family's grandeur. Even eating lobster was an event.
Belinda had insisted on the proper tools, and she was intent on shaping the Hawthorne family into a true high family. When she wasn't playing bridge to pass the time, she was poring over etiquette for the elite.
Belinda was no stranger to refinement, and she had been well-educated and was once a city heiress before her family's fortune declined.
“I'm going to draft a set of family rules,” she declared. “All prestigious families have them. When I was young, the rules were strict, and without them, there's no order.”
Aurelia chuckled, “Sure, do whatever makes you happy. I’ll get an assistant to help you organize them.”
In her view, the Hawthorne family was still far from being a high family. True nobility required generations of legacy. But if it pleased Belinda, then why not indulge her?
