Beverley sighed. "Leopold's out of the game. He's such a Casanova and crossed a line with Aurelia. You better not make the same mistake, or you'll be out, too."
Leopold choked on his drink, and the ice water he'd sipped to cool off almost sprayed out.
It was like someone had twisted the knife in his wound and then rubbed in it.
Screw being a protective brother!
He'd babied her for nothing.
Aurelia snickered inwardly, willing to bet that her bodyguard felt like a storm had hit him inside, his thoughts as chaotic as a herd of wild horses galloping in the wind.
Elvis glanced at her and deliberately asked, "Really? Mr. Leopold's out of the game?"
With poise, Aurelia responded, "After Leopold left the hospital, he's likely to divorce Megan and marry Lana. As for me, our relationship is simply employer-employee, with a touch of former husband and wife."
Her words seemed aimed at Guardian Leopold sitting beside her, who was fuming.
He stealthily reached under the table and gave Aurelia's fair leg a pinch, eliciting a pained gasp from her.
Damn, the devil's unleashed!
But why did she feel exhilarated as downing a refreshing iced lemonade?
Beverley, perched on Aurelia's other side, caught the subtle exchange in the corner of her eye.
Holy shit!
The bodyguard was flirting with his boss' wife under the table. Was he the little pet she kept on the side, a stand-in for Leopold?
