Chapter 434 There Was No Room For Discussion
Adrian’s expression slightly tensed, a faint crease forming between his brows as he attempted to mask his emotions. By the time he gently knocked on Lysander’s door once more, his features had smoothed into their customary gentle smile. He announced with a soft warmth, “We’re back.”
White Coat trailed behind him, barking joyfully as if catching his mood.
“Mm, Lysander replied her voice slightly distant. After responding, she drifted back to her seat by the window, her gaze lost in the vague contours of the outside world.
Observing that she desired solitude, Adrian chose not to intrude further. Noticing the nearly cleared dining table, he quietly made his way to the kitchen. There, he meticulously washed the used utensils and neatly arranged them back in the cupboard.
In the living room, Lysander maintained her
templative silence.
Adrian approached her gently, his voice laced with concern, “What happened? Did the conversation not go well?”
The discussion had not merely been unproductive–it had been utterly futile.
A bitter chuckle echoed silently within Lysander, though her face remained impassive. She managed a simple, “In
to be as current state, we can’t discuss anything. Dr. Sutton, I really appreciate your help, but I’d like
for a while now.”
“All right, I’ll take my leave then,” Adrian responded, his movements carrying a trace of reluctance. As he moved toward the door, he paused to gently pat the fluffy head of the puppy following him, whispering, “Take good care of her for me, I’m leaving first.”
White Coat seemed to understand, rustling softly as it stopped following him further.
Lysander found herself alone until the afternoon. Not a single message or piece of news came through. Not worrying that she might disturb Daphne, she finally decided to reach out herself.
“The user you’re trying to reach is currently unavailable…”
The automated response of customer service greeted her repeatedly, regardless of how many times she attempted the call.
Given the dire circumstances the Everhart family was currently facing, Lysander resolved to take a taxi directly to the office building of Everhart Corporation.
The once bustling Everhart Corporation was cerily silent and deserted. The grand lobby, previously guarded and lively, was now devoid of security personnel. The reception desk stood unattended, and the remaining employees seemed disoriented and uninformed.
A sense of urgency propelled Lysander to ask one of them, “Can you guys get in touch with Ms. Everhart?”
The employee’s response was a’shake of his head. “We’ve been unable to reach her by phone. The bank representatives are here already, it seems they’re planning to seal the office and liquidate the assets. We’ve been trying all morning, but there’s no response.
Before Lysander could process the full implication, a lawyer, sharply dressed and accompanied by bank

preparing for an assessment of the assets.
Lysander didn’t hesitate to intercept the lead lawyer. “Excuse me… Are you the bank’s appointed lawyer?” she inquired urgently.
The lawyer eyed her carefully before replying, “Indeed, may I ask if you are Ms. Daphne Everhart?”
Lysander shook her head. “No, I’m not her. But she’s a good friend of mine. Can you tell me… what’s going
on now?”
Adjusting his gold–rimmed glasses, the lawyer explained, “The situation with Everhart Corporation is rather complex. It’s not merely a simple bankruptcy; their assets are far insufficient to cover the debts.”
Taking a sharp breath, Lysander pressed, “What do you plan to do?”
It seemed that the situation was even more critical than she had anticipated.
The lawyer’s response was diplomatically cautious, “We will proceed legally against the corporate entity to recover the debts. Any disputes will be resolved in court.”.
The lawyer expressed his skepticism with a hint of incredulity in his voice, “After all this considerable delay and no attempts at repayment, what could possibly change in just half an hour?”
“Look, putting someone behind bars isn’t going to fill your pockets; it’s a no–win situation. Half an hour is hardly a significant extension. If I still can’t come up with the funds after that, you’re free to follow through with
The lawyer, acting on behalf of the bank, was well aware that retrieving the funds would make his job a lot easier. Checking his watch, he reluctantly agreed, “I’ll extend your time by another half an hour. Should anyone else ask, my hands are tied.”
“Thank you, that’s more than generous,” Lysander acknowledged gratefully. After ending the conversation, she swiftly moved to a secluded area to make an urgent phone call.
Howard’s contact had long been a fixture in her pho, reserved for truly critical moments. The tension

Update pls~...
Why no update ???...
Chapters 692 693 ans 694 are impossible to read. Not sure if there was an issue with translation.but the words do not make sense..impossible to follow story line...
I cant get over the fact that the writer is trying to show as if the male lead has committed a grave sin. First he didnt know she was pregnant because she never told him. Second right from the start she never communicated anything. She was unbothered even during her marriage. I am not saying the male lead is great but atleast he seems like a human with emotions unlike her. And there is no context for why she is so emotionless....
The female lead is not charming but an unbothered b word, there is a very big difference. There is no point of extending this story at all because even if you write 1000+ chapters at 1001 the male lead would still be doing everything for her and she wouldnt bat an eye even if someone killed him. I mean honestly either the start should have been written better where we do understand that she was deeply affected because of her divorce or just STOPPPPP. Even for fiction it is annoying....
