"This woman is quite a skilled actress!"
Sean had been watching the whole scene unfold. With a twinkle in his charming eyes, he grinned at Ronald. "Right, Ronald?"
"Yes, absolutely!" Ronald replied, glancing at Sean. "How about you, Mr. Smith?"
"Let's just let things take their course. I was only here for a bit of excitement. It's late, and I'm heading home!" Sean dusted off his clothes as if he had played no part in the recent drama and walked away.
On the other side of town, Charles carried Noelle to Sean's private hospital. The staff had been alerted to expect Charles and were waiting outside. When they saw Charles holding a woman, they rushed to greet him. "Mr. Hoffman."
"Yes," Charles said as he stepped out of the car with Noelle in his arms and faced the doctor. "She's been bitten by a snake. Please check if all the venom's been removed!"
Hearing that, the doctor quickly examined Noelle's wound. "Mr. Hoffman, please lay her down so we can take a closer look!"
Noelle's leg wound had been cleaned, but to be safe, the doctor recommended she stay overnight for observation. If she was fine by morning, then they could be sure she was out of danger.
The hospital staff were anxious all night. When Noelle woke up the next morning, everyone let out a sigh of relief.
Noelle had been asleep all night, but she woke up feeling all fuzzy-headed. To her surprise, she found herself in a hospital room. As she tried to sit up, she felt a warm touch on her forehead. Looking up, she saw Charles standing there with a worried look. "You've still got a little fever," he said.
Noelle bit her lip, and Charles quickly gave her a glass of water. "How are you feeling?"
