The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 134

Just as knocking-off time was near, Ronan's car pulled up outside the company. He rang Cordelia, saying he was waiting for her downstairs.

After Cordelia got in the car, Ronan handed her her phone. She saw a call from Trina on the screen.

"What happened to Trina?" Cordelia looked nervous, fearing something had happened to her mom.

"Well, she rang to say your mom can move again. Wanna give her a call back?" Ronan asked.

"My mom's fingers can move again?" Cordelia exclaimed excitedly, "Does that mean she's about to wake up?"

She seemed to be not talking to Ronan but just excitedly talking to herself.

"Um, maybe so," Ronan clearly couldn't share Cordelia's excitement.

Cordelia rang Trina back.

"Cordelia, your mom's awake, and she can talk. Come quick," Trina said.

Cordelia was momentarily stunned. She couldn't believe what she just heard, her mind going blank for a while.

"Really?" Tears fell from Cordelia's eyes, but she didn't even notice.

"Come quick," Trina said.

After Trina hung up, Cordelia kept her phone to her ear for a long time. She feared that it had all been a dream and she would wake up. After all, six years was a long time.

"Do you have time? Can you take me to Millstone Hospital?" Cordelia asked, finally coming to her senses.

"Yeah." And with that, Ronan's car headed towards the hospital.

Cordelia was excited the whole way. Upon arriving at Millstone Hospital, Ronan was about to get out of the car. But Cordelia suddenly thought of something and stopped him. She turned to Ronan and said, "Can you not go in?"

"Why? Is there something you don't want me to know?" Ronan teased.

"No, it's just... the hospital isn't really your scene. It wouldn't be polite for my mom to see you just after she woke up. I would have to introduce you and all. Is that okay?" Cordelia pleaded.

"Sure." Ronan lit up a cigarette.
