Roseville. Cordelia's grandmother's house.
"What's up with Mr. Sullivan? He finally agreed to a blind date with you and you turned him down. You don't fancy your dad's colleagues at the bus station because they're not rich, nor the salesmen at work because they do not have high status. You've met so many people. Why can't you find one that fits your standard?" Sienna said to Samantha.
"He's in his forties, fat, divorced, and has children. Just looking at him makes me want to puke." Samantha was in a bad mood.
She now knew that Cordelia's husband was actually Ronan, and Cordelia was not Ronan's mistress. She was super jealous.
It was only when she saw those papers last time that she realized the house wasn't Adrian's, but Ronan and Cordelia's. She had to squeeze the truth out of Adrian, only to find out they were actually married.
They were actually married!
The gap between Samantha and Cordelia had become entirely apparent, with Samantha falling short in every step.
Thinking about all the misunderstandings she had created in the office, it wasn't Cordelia who was the joke, but herself. During her time in Millstone, she had become the butt of everyone's jokes.
Around Christmas, she went on more than a dozen blind dates hoping for something good to happen, but all she got were fat men or creepy ones. There were a few she actually liked, but every time she thought of how handsome and refined Ronan was, those guys seemed like nothing.
Currently, Samantha had taken a long leave of absence but had not resigned. She was still going to Millstone and Lumos Enterprises. If she wasn't comfortable, neither should Cordelia.
The bouquet given to Cordelia was from Samantha. She won a 588 dollar flower coupon at Christmas. The bouquet was so big that she couldn't fit it in her house. As a single woman, flowers were useless. She just delivered it to Cordelia without leaving a name, causing a misunderstanding between Cordelia and Ronan.
"Sienna, Sienna, my head hurts. It's been hurting for so long; it feels like there's a needle in my brain." A weak voice came from grandma's room.
"Jesus, why aren't you dead yet." Sienna cursed, "You're hurting, huh? Your days are numbered."
Sienna was also pissed. Last time Cordelia had washed the old woman's bedding, making it look like she treated the elderly poorly. Now hearing Cordelia married a rich man, Sienna was even more infuriated.
"Sienna, Sienna." Grandma called again from her room.
"You are so annoying! Do you know how much it costs to treat you? You're just lying there taking up space." Sienna shouted back.
Suddenly, Samantha had an idea.
After all, for rich people like them, marriage and divorce were child's play, they can play with anyone, might as well find someone rich.
That was what Samantha was thinking.
Cordelia informed Milana, then immediately went downstairs to hail a taxi to Roseville, forgetting her plan to buy underwear for Ronan.
Cordelia and Shelley arrived at Roseville Hospital at the same time. Sienna and Samantha were crying at the corridor entrance.
"The test results came back, mom has a brain tumor, a very serious one. That's why she's been having incontinence. The tumor has been pressing on her nerves for a long time, and if we don't treat it now, mom might become paralyzed. But we don't have money. Samantha got a job at Lumos Enterprises, but the income is meager. Your uncle works at a bus company, and he doesn't have money either. We all love mom, but we just don't have the money." Sienna cried out.
"How much do we need?" Shelley asked.
"The doctor said she needs surgery right away, so we need thirty thousand dollars now." Sienna thought.
Samantha was watching Cordelia, thinking: The young lady of a wealthy family would surely be able to afford this. Once she paid, how was she going to explain it to Ronan? Too bad Ronan wasn't here to see what was going on here.
