Once she arrived at the Audit Department, Cordelia looked around, checking for cameras, but saw none. She even asked Milana if there were any cameras.
"Are you kidding me? Installing cameras would be a total invasion of privacy. Why would Mr. Evans ever do that?" Milana replied, "Wyatt reports everything to Mr. Evans."
"So he's like the town crier?" Cordelia was surprised.
"Didn't you notice how Wyatt was trying to calm things down when Manda came looking for trouble?" Milana asked Cordelia.
"I wasn't paying attention."
"Then what were you preoccupied with?" Milana asked casually, already getting back to her work.
Cordelia thought to herself: she was probably thinking about Jamie.
Having been in the Audit Department for a while, she got the vibe that everyone knew everything, but they were all discreet and didn't pry into other people's business.
"Milana, in your opinion, what kind of person is Ronan?" Although people from the Audit Department didn't like prying into other people's privacy, Cordelia's question wasn't about snooping. It was just a simple inquiry.
"Do you think I would ever badmouth Mr. Evans right in front of you?" Milana laughed, "But he really is an excellent businessman. He is decisive, wise, steady, and very strategic. If he had a kid, they would definitely be amazing."
The last sentence was directed at Cordelia, which made her blush. Cordelia felt that the entire company was now focusing on her belly.
She documented the day's happenings for future reference. At least she knew that others saw Ronan as a good guy.
Around noon, before she had lunch, Cordelia received a message from Barney: [Cordelia, Ronan's parents have arrived home. You might want to let Ronan know.]
Cordelia wasn't sure if she should tell Ronan about this. She also wasn't sure how he might react.
After some thought, she decided to tell Ronan in person.
[Let's have lunch together, honey.] Cordelia texted him.
Probably Ronan knew something was up when Cordelia texted him like this. Soon after, the phone on Cordelia's desk rang.
