The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 266

Cordelia realized she couldn't let him know she was aware he'd been secretly deleting her emails. If he found out she knew, he might have continued doing it. She decided to play dumb, pretending she hadn't received the job offer. As soon as the time came, she'd make her escape.

"Stomachache?" Ronan asked, approaching Cordelia.

Her eyes, which were initially filled with resentment, suddenly softened. "I'm not feeling so well today. Could you take me to the hospital? Victoria's Hospital."

Seeing her pale face and the way she clutched her stomach, Ronan helped her into the car, heading straight for the hospital. On the way, Cordelia video called Victoria, asking if she was at the hospital today because her stomach was hurting.

"I'm on call today, are you bleeding?"

"No, just a stomachache," Cordelia replied, her forehead damp with sweat. She wanted to lie down but couldn't. She tried to find a comfortable position in the car, but it was impossible.

"Just hang in there," Ronan said, noticing her pained expression through the rearview mirror.

About twenty minutes later, they arrived at the hospital. After examining Cordelia, Victoria called Ronan into her office, telling them Cordelia was having a threatened miscarriage. "Have you been upset recently?" Victoria asked Cordelia. “Emotional stress can easily lead to a miscarriage. Fortunately, you’re not bleeding. It’s not serious, but you need to be careful.”

Ronan stood by Cordelia’s side.

“I’d like to be,” Cordelia said, her voice tinged with melancholy. She wanted to be fine, but Ronan wasn’t making things easy. Their constant arguments and sex were taking a toll on her. Plus, she had just found out that Ronan had deleted her job offer, blocking her way to further her studies.

"Also, isn't it true that you can't have sex during pregnancy?" Cordelia asked, glancing at Ronan out of the corner of her eye. She wanted Ronan to know how much he'd hurt her.

"Normal pregnant women shouldn't during the first three months and the last three months. The fetus isn't stable during the first three months, and the uterus is under great pressure in the last three. But Cordelia, you're carrying twins. Your uterus is already under a lot of stress," Victoria said, sounding a bit annoyed. She looked at Ronan and said, "Mr. Evans, can't you control yourself? These are your babies too."
