"Cordelia, I've got something to tell you - Edwin's in love."
Before the main course even arrived, Brooklyn shared her misgivings with Cordelia. "I knew he had feelings for someone else, but I just didn't want to believe it. Yet, my intuition was there."
"Did you catch them in the act?" Cordelia blurted out instinctively.
"Cordelia, I'm heartbroken!" protested Brooklyn, "Can't you take this seriously? If I caught them red-handed, I would have jumped off a building by now."
"Oh." Cordelia finally showed some seriousness. "So nothing actually happened? Everyone has their own 'one that got away', right? I still have mine. If it weren't for Logan's accident, we would have been married by now. Maybe even have a couple of kids. Life is full of twists and turns."
Ronan overheard their conversation. However, Deanna didn't. Her attention was solely focused on the "Samantha" that Ronan was talking about.
Ronan gave Deanna a small smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Yeah, tell me more about her," Ronan encouraged.
"Don’t even get me started on Samantha. She's restless. I've been casting for a period drama recently and needed a maid. I had no choice but to let Samantha, fill in. But guess what? She kept stealing my limelight and even tried to get cozy with the producer. Now, a few producers have been calling her, offering her roles. With her looks, she’s only fit for playing the villain. I have no idea where she gets her confidence!" Deanna grumbled.
"So, you two are at odds now?" Ronan asked her.
He wore a smile that seemed distant to Deanna, leaving her puzzled. "Yes."
...
Outside.
