The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 305

Tristi was at the wheel, and Milana rode shotgun with Cordelia and Ronan in the backseat.

"I'm not sure if I should say this, and it's a bit blunt," Milana observed, peering at Cordelia and Ronan through the rearview mirror. "Between the temporarily disabled Ronan and pregnant Cordelia, you two seem to be in a pretty helpless state."

"We have a nanny at home," Ronan countered.

Cordelia had something on her mind. Grant already knew about the babies' paternity. Ronan was bound to find out sooner or later. Better to tell him sooner and hope for a sympathetic response.

As they approached a bottleneck in the road, Cordelia suddenly suggested, "Why don't we go shopping for the kids?"

Such a simple statement made Ronan's heart flutter. He swallowed hard before asking, "What do we need to buy?"

"I don't know, we're expecting a boy and a girl. Let's get them some clothes. They'll be here soon." Cordelia rubbed her belly. "Once I get more pregnant, we might not have the time."

"Together?" Ronan turned his head to look at her belly.

"Yes."

"Drop Milana off at the office. You don’t have to wait for us," Ronan told Tristi.

Once out of the car, he and Cordelia walked into the Happy Kids maternity and baby store. The store was large and luxurious, spread over two floors.

Cordelia linked her arm through Ronan's uninjured one, and they perused the store. She was astonished by the amount of stuff they needed, bottles, nursing pads, baby shampoo, body wash, and diapers. But her actual goal today was not to shop for the babies but to tell Ronan he was their father.

She picked up a little boy's outfit and held it against her belly, then asked Ronan, "Do you think this outfit is cute?"

"If you like it, then it's good."

Choosing baby clothes was beyond Ronan's expertise.

"You're the father. Shouldn't you at least have an opinion?" Cordelia teased.
