The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 332

After a night of passionate entanglement, there was a palpable sense of unity between the two.

It was a little past ten the next morning when Janice returned home.

"I see you're back, Janice. I'll be heading out to the office this afternoon," Ronan told her.

"Hmm."

Cordelia shot Ronan a lingering glance. A glint of affection was shining in her eyes.

"Can't bear to see me go, huh?" Ronan walked over to Cordelia, lightly pinching her cheek.

"You'll be back by afternoon. Why would I be worried about you leaving?" Yet, truth be told, after three days of inseparable sweetness and companionship, Cordelia found it hard to part ways with Ronan. It felt as if autumn had come too soon.

"It seems my absence has given you two room to grow closer, so what am I doing here?" Janice joked, seemingly mocking her own redundancy.

"Janice!" Cordelia scolded playfully.

"Just a few days at home, and Cordelia has already become more beautiful," Janice observed, her gaze settling on Cordelia's dazzling eyes. "It seems I really have been interrupting your love story."

"Janice, you’re such a teaser!"

Janice, being a bit older, lacked the whimsicality of youth. Moreover, she seemed to be in quite a good mood since her return.

"How did your son's meeting go?" Cordelia asked, diverting the conversation.

While Janice was speaking, Cordelia couldn't help but steal glances at Ronan, who remained expressionless throughout the conversation.

"Quite well. His teachers believe that with hard work, he could get into his preferred college. He's aiming for Birchwood College's finance department. I just hope he puts in the effort," Janice shared.

"Birchwood College? Grandpa Barney's college?" Cordelia was surprised.

"Yes. He has always loved Birchwood. But he’s a bit of a fun-lover, and is always bouncing around with a basketball. He's a tall lad now, over six feet. His father and I can't bear his obsession with basketball."

"Boys will be boys," Cordelia said, laughing.

"I'm off then!" Ronan announced, before leaving abruptly.

The room returned to its usual calm, with Janice chattering away. Cordelia seemed to be in a daze, still immersed in the melancholy of Ronan's departure. She had never felt this way before, not with Ronan, and definitely not with Logan. Perhaps her relationship with Ronan was much deeper than she had ever experienced.

......

Lumos Enterprises.

Ronan had taken three days off, and his desk was piled with paperwork. He was carefully reviewing each one and signing them off.
